About Us

PGM was established in Milton Keynes by Jonny Krause in 1987. Specialising in Yamaha RD's, PGM started business by breaking bikes and selling the parts by mail order.

Shortly afterwards, Yamaha decided to reduce its UK dealer network by around 30%. This meant that there were suddenly lots of Yamaha dealers who needed to find an alternative means of supporting themselves - some became dealers for other manufacturers, some became dealers of cars or lorries and some simply closed their businesses.

The result was a massive bonanza of new Yamaha stock for anyone interested in buying it. Jonny travelled the UK searching for RD parts and taking them back to Milton Keynes for distribution.

This ample supply of spares went on for a few years, during which time Jonny relocated his home and business to Berwickshire in Scotland. However, there came a time when the stocks began to dry up - but the demand for new parts amongst riders and restorers of RD's had been aroused.

Jonny needed to look further afield for new parts and a customer happened to mention reading an article regarding the manufacture of the RD350 in India, under licence from Yamaha Japan. A ticket was bought and Jonny arrived in Delhi to search for fresh stocks.

Unfortunately, the RD350 had been a complete flop in India (too complicated, not robust enough and too costly to buy and maintain) so production had ceased after only a few years. Spares were already thin on the ground and it didn't take long before Jonny was faced with having to think of other sources of supply.

It was at this point that Jonny began to get parts manufactured in Delhi. Using companies recommended by the suppliers he had been using for the last few years, he started to commission the making of parts as they become unavailable in the UK and Indian markets. However, all carburettor parts and most engine components continued to be, and still are, sourced directly from Japan.

More than a decade later, PGM has an inventory of over 3,000 hard-to-find and unavailable RD parts in their warehouse. These include the excellent range of Mocom spare parts kits, for which PGM is the sole UK distributor.

In his spare time, Jonny is a trustee of

JBF also provides free vetenary facilities for the street cattle of Delhi and runs an Animal Rescue Centre catering for all species in Guwahati, Assam (North East India). In 2006 Jonny was awarded the IFAW International award for Action with Animals at the House of Lords, London.

In 2007, Jonny rode his 1983 Yamaha XS 850 more than 6,000 miles from his home in Berwickshire to Delhi in just 23 days, raising £2,500 in sponsorship for JBF. A blog,
XS to India, recounts his exploits en route and the bike was subsequently featured in the December 2007 issue of Classic Bike.
